United Against Food Waste at Food4Future 2025

Were you at Food4Future? We were!

Yesterday, on 13 May 2025, four Horizon Europe projects —BREADCRUMB ROSETTA,  CHORIZO, and ZeroWASTE — came together in Bilbao for a dedicated session on food waste at Food4Future

Titled “Zero Waste: obligations and opportunities in the food chain”, the session showcased innovative strategies and collaborative efforts across the food value chain — from production to distribution — all aimed at reducing food loss and waste.

The session was opened by Helena de Miguel Santoyo (MAPA) with an overview of Spain’s national food waste strategy and moderated by Eduardo Cotillas (FIAB). It featured the following speakers:

  • Maria Miranda Tarín (ANECOOP) for BREADCRUMB.
“The impact of marketing standards on the generation of food waste”
  • Irene González Pérez for CHORIZO
“Changing practices and habits through Open, Responsible and Social Innovation”
  • Lluis Puig (Freshis) for ROSETTA
“Reducing food waste in the distribution chain”
  • Alejandro Fernández (Grupo La Caña) for ZeroWASTE
“Systemic innovations towards a zero food waste supply chain”

Together, these four projects represent a united front against food waste — exploring everything from behavioural change and policy to tech-driven solutions and short-chain sales.

Let’s keep working together for a sustainable, circular food system!
